What This Design Does:
A cloud-native web application architecture designed with Kubernetes and Meshery. The design deploys a frontend (Nginx) and a backend (Node.js) in a dedicated namespace, each exposed through its own Service. PostgreSQL runs as a StatefulSet with a headless Service and a PersistentVolumeClaim for persistent storage. The database password is stored in a Kubernetes Secret instead of being written in plain text. This design demonstrates core Kubernetes concepts: namespaces, workload management, service exposure, application separation, secrets management, database deployment and persistent storage.
Design Snapshot
Caveats and Consideration:
- This is a learning and demonstration design, not production-ready. - The Secret contains a placeholder password (change-me). Replace it with a secure value before any real deployment. - The backend runs a minimal Node.js HTTP server for demonstration. Replace it with your own application image. - The frontend uses the default Nginx image and serves its default page. - The PersistentVolumeClaim requests 5Gi with ReadWriteOnce and relies on a default StorageClass being available in the cluster. - Services are not exposed outside the cluster. Add an Ingress or a LoadBalancer Service for external access. - No resource limits, probes or network policies are defined yet.
